Coronavirus Update

 Monday 16th March

After careful consideration, we have taken the decision to temporarily change the way we operate in order to help protect our valued customers and staff. We very much want to ensure that our café and gallery remain open for as long as possible, continue to be a part of the community and to help & support others during the coronavirus outbreak.

We understand that the government hasn't ruled out closing restaurants and non-essential shops, as per Italy and Spain, as part of their strategy to slow the spread of the coronavirus. With this in mind, we have decided to close the café to visitors and move to takeaway only whilst the gallery side of the building remains open for the time being. We are also planning how we could go forward to offer home delivery. We hope this will ensure our staff can keep working for now and that it will help to protect the more vulnerable in our community by reducing mixing with others at close quarters.

The Workhouse Café

Call and carry out. From tomorrow we will put the menu on our Facebook page and here on the website. We will be offering all your usual favourites to takeaway, from a flat white coffee and croissant to a fresh, home-made Workhouse cafe lunch for up to 8 people.

Please call us with your orders on
01544 267864, payment will be taken over the phone, and we will have your order ready for collection at an agreed time. Please order between 10am and 3.15pm.  We will be offering a 15% discount for NHS and care workers.

We know that volunteer groups are now beginning to organise within Presteigne and the local area to support those who may fall ill or are self-isolating. If anyone is able to help us by volunteering to deliver takeaways to people who are isolating or can't get out, we would be very grateful. Please do call us to discuss.

The Workhouse Gallery

For now the gallery shop will remain open, however we will be adding lots of our shop stock to our website including cards, new ranges and one-off items in case you feel you would rather shop online only. Please keep an eye on our Facebook page for updates here.

We believe that the best way to get through these very challenging times is as a community, and very much hope you will continue to support us.

With very best wishes

Rose Bamford and all at The Workhouse
